Adopting A Kitten From Rex-N-FX
Now that you have decided that a Devon is definitely for you, how do you go about adopting one?

Pet Quality Kittens
Kittens are placed as either pets, breeding/show cats, or show quality alters. Most people wishing to adopt a Devon are looking for a loving pet to become a part of their family. I do not keep a waiting list for pet buyers as I get more inquiries than I could ever hope to fill. If you are looking to adopt a pet Devon, then please contact me and let me know. You can send me an e-mail or use my online form for an inquiry. I will e-mail you back and tell you about any upcoming litters. We can both decide if you wish to wait for one, or get a recommendation for another breeder to contact in the meantime. I require a deposit on any kitten that I sell. I also require my buyers to read and sign my contract prior to making the final payment on the kitten. My kittens are ready to leave my home when they are between 12 and 16 weeks old. At this point in their lives, they have received all the vaccines that they will require for the first year of their life. Before any kitten leaves here, he is taken to the vet for a complete health exam. The vet checks the kitten over to make sure that he is 100% healthy before issuing a health certificate to me for the kitten's release. The vet not only checks for anything that could be physically wrong, but also for any signs of contagious illness. Once the health check is passed, then the kitten is spayed or neutered. I practice early spay and neuter on all my pets because it is a safe procedure and very easily done on a young animal. The kittens come home with me 4 hours after the operation and are running and playing and bouncing all over the place that very same day.

If you work with a responsible breeder, there is no need to purchase a purebred from a pet shop. Most pet shops receive their kittens and puppies from what are commonly known as "puppy (or kitten) mills." I promote responsible breeding and pet ownership and personally work with each buyer to make sure that you have a great experience when adopting a purebred Devon Rex kitten.

Show Quality Alters
Some people express an interest in showing a cat as it can be a very rewarding and fun hobby. You might be one of these people who would like to adopt a Devon that you can show. Pet quality Devons are generally not showable as they do not meet the written breed standard adequately enough to be competitive in the show ring. If you wish to adopt a show quality altered cat, I will sometimes have pet Devons who do meet the standard well enough and who may be good candidates to show in Premiership. Please e-mail me and let me know this and I can tell you if any are available or will be available. As a breeder, I am delighted to have you show a quality Devon from my cattery and I am happy to mentor new people wishing to become involved in the cat fancy.

Show/Breeding Cats
I am often contacted by people that want to start breeding cats, Devons in particular. Some people want information on the hobby and others just want to purchase breeding animals. I am always happy to answer questions about the hobby of breeding and showing, however; I do not sell intact breeding cats, males or females, to people that I have not gotten to know and trust. I make no exceptions to this rule. I prefer to work with already established breeders that are involved in the cat fancy and whose reputations I am familiar with. As a responsible breeder, I take this aspect of my hobby very seriously. I will work with new people occasionally who would like to be mentored, learn about breeding and showing Devon Rex, and who will make a commitment to the breed by showing an altered cat for a show season. I'm always happy to answer questions about Devons and if you have something you'd like to ask, then please contact Carole.
